PROPRIETARY EXPLORATION MODEL · JV & JO Only

Drill Optimization Model

Let each drilling result inform the next decision.

Drilling Is Redesigned Dynamically

A drilling program should evolve as the geological picture changes. GAIA’s Drill Optimization Model uses new observations to reassess target hypotheses and the purpose of subsequent holes, helping project partners adapt the program as evidence accumulates.

Available exclusively through JV or JO project cooperation. Not available for self-service platform access.

Keep the drilling strategy connected to the evidence

01

Connect each hole to a decision

Define whether a proposed hole is intended to test geometry, continuity, a structural control or an alternative interpretation. Evaluate its purpose in the context of the whole program.

02

Update the model with drilling feedback

Review new logging, assays, survey information and non-intersections as they become available and are checked. Revisit assumptions when results support, weaken or contradict the current interpretation.

03

Adapt the next round of work

Compare the information expected from candidate holes alongside depth, access and other project constraints. Refine priorities and design options through geological and engineering review.

Turn new results into a reviewed next step

What we work with

The current geological model and target hypotheses; collar, downhole survey, logging and assay information; proposed drilling; and relevant operational constraints. New results should retain their dates, quality status and relationship to the holes they describe.

What the project work can produce

  • 01A clear statement of the geological objective and decision value of proposed holes.
  • 02An updated interpretation of how new results affect the target hypotheses.
  • 03A comparison of subsequent drilling options and their underlying assumptions.
  • 04Recommendations for staged program adjustments, with the evidence and review requirements behind them.

The work scope and deliverables are defined for each JV or JO project following a review of the data, objectives and project stage.

An exploration program that learns from each stage

01

Set the initial decision framework

Agree on target hypotheses, program objectives and the questions each stage of drilling should answer.

02

Incorporate checked results

Compare new observations with the expected geology and identify which assumptions need revision.

03

Review and adjust the next stage

Reassess candidate holes and update recommendations through the responsible geological and engineering team.

Illustrative project scenario

An early drilling result changes the target geometry

The first holes indicate that a mineralized structure dips differently from the initial interpretation. Rather than extending the same pattern without review, the team revisits the model, compares the purpose of the remaining holes and assesses changes to the next stage. The value lies in making the new evidence consequential to the program.

Questions before we explore together

What does dynamic redesign mean?

It means reviewing the program as new, checked evidence becomes available. Recommendations can change when the geological interpretation or project constraints change.

Does the model control drilling equipment?

No. It supports geological and program decisions. Field execution and changes to approved drilling remain subject to the responsible team’s review and authorization.

Are holes without mineralization useful?

Yes. A well-documented non-intersection can constrain target geometry or challenge the working model. Its value depends on the original objective and data quality.

Does optimization guarantee fewer metres or lower cost?

No fixed saving is promised. The objective is to improve the basis for allocating drilling effort; appropriate work may still include additional drilling to resolve an important uncertainty.

Is this the same as Gaia Drill Agent?

No. The Drill Optimization Model is a separate proprietary project capability. Access is limited to JV or JO cooperation and is not included in a platform subscription.

At what point should we discuss cooperation?

When preparing a staged drilling program, reassessing a target after initial results, or considering how an active campaign should respond to new evidence.
